Brighton's proper gig venue - DnB, live bands, big nights

6.8/10

Local score

No. 8 of 19 nights out on r/brighton, from 93 locals across 96 threads.

85% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.

Named again and again as a Brighton institution alongside Volks and Komedia, praised for its DnB and gig nights and considered a safer bet than most clubs for avoiding drink-spiking. One clubbing guide is more mixed, calling the big room 'a bit soulless' with decent sound, better suited to live gigs than club nights. Touring-act tickets run around £15-20.

What locals say

…of comedy clubs, jazz nights, gigs (really good bands come in to small venues like concorde 2 and hope and ruin ), art exhibitions that are often running in the evenings. pubs are also just places to hang out that often have a lot of other stuff going on like open mic nights or video games or serving good food until at least 9pm you’ll easily find things to do! Saying that, I do agree that there…

Just turned 48 and I'm at Volks or Concorde 2 every other weekend for the DnB. I find both venues (barring certain jump up events) have a wide ranging age demographic. If you like drum and bass get yourself to Volks, it's everything an underground music venue should be.

Patterns has a decent lineup if you're into house/ techno- Joy Orbison and Eclair Fifi- If you're into something a bit faster Calibre is Headlining Concorde 2! both very fun nights but will set you back £15-20 just on…

…London promoters it has consistently excellent bookings and awesome new sound and light. But, usually oversold so no room to dance. Expensive lockers and drinks. No pints. Patterns: Quality underground nights. Average soundsystem and lights. Full of wankers before 1am. Concorde 2: Big space, decent sound. A bit soulless. Better for live gigs. Volks: Great vibe. Dirty rave cave. Too much DnB. Horizon: Dickhead magnet. Revenge: Young gays Legends: Old gays Casablancas: Is it still going?
