100% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.
The UK's oldest continuously-running cinema, loved for its balcony couch seating, hot chocolate and general beauty as a building. Also doubles as an unusually cheap, unique wedding venue and hosts events like Eurovision watch parties.

…why would you when the city is full of so many brilliant independent cafes and restaurants. However, if you do go to the Marina, the Volks Railway is a fun little excursion along the seafront - the oldest operating electric railway in the world. …very comfy couch in one corner. But it might not be open until after lunch time and again, can get very busy. It's also pretty far from the centre, and a bit of a walk (might be a nightmare with sciatica). Failing that, depending on timing, you could also go and see a film at the Duke of Yorks cinema and see if the balcony seating is available - they have couch seating up there that's very comfy.
