Story Trail visitors found 7,000 BookBenches in the first week
More than 30 book-themed benches are out around the city until 8 November, raising money for the SEND charity Amaze.
More than 7,000 BookBenches were unlocked through the Story Trail app in its first week, according to the Brighton company that built it.
The trail runs until 8 November. More than 30 large benches designed by artists, plus dozens of smaller ones made by local schools and community groups, are dotted around Brighton & Hove, each based on a story. The app shows where they are, tracks the ones you’ve found and gives out rewards along the way.
It’s free, and it raises money for Amaze, a charity that supports families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. DabApps, which made the app, has worked with Amaze since 2014.
“It’s been brilliant to see people out exploring the Story Trail and using the app to discover the artwork around Brighton & Hove,” said Catrina Baker-Bassett, its managing director.
When the trail ends, the benches go on show for a farewell weekend at the Brighton Centre from 27 to 29 November, then to auction on 30 November.
