Owner-run specialty coffee, worth the trek to Hove

Local score

No. 20 of 141 cafés on r/brighton, from 25 locals across 20 threads.

97% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.

Comes up constantly as the best coffee in Brighton and Hove, run by an owner who "really cares" and known for excellent beans, consistent service and interesting V60s and matcha. It's tucked away off Portland Road in "deep Hove", so several people note it's out of the way.

Go for
A proper V60, matcha, or decaf

44 Poets, 100%. Run by the owner, they really care about doing it as well as possible. Their beans are excellent too.
