A traditional Baker Street chippy going since the 1920s/30s, long cited as one of Brighton's best for fish and chips, with praise for light, crisp batter and a good sit-in experience, including a pint from the Bat & Ball next door. Opinion has split more recently though — several say it's gone downhill, become overpriced, or hit-or-miss since a change of ownership.

What locals say

Best in the city is Bardsley’s on Baker Street, or Little Jack Fuller’s on St James’s Street. If you want to take some the beach, Little Jack is a good option!

I have been living in Brighton for 3 years now and wanted to know your guy's opinions on what is the best fish and chips places. My favorite is Bardsley’s. I found this blog that has some great fish and chip places but do you think they have missed a place.

+1 Bardsleys still good after the change of ownership Also a shout out to the Woodingdean Fish Bar although haven’t been back there for years. Used to love the fisherman in yellow…

Any repped fish and chips place - Bardsleys, Bankers etc. This city has unjustifiably poor fish and chips offerings considering it's a seaside town.
