Blakers Park

Fiveways' favourite green space, best view from the top

6.4/10

Local score

No. 14 of 41 outdoor spots on r/brighton, from 16 locals across 19 threads.

92% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.

Locals in Fiveways rate this as their favourite local park, especially the top corner on Preston Drove for views over the city, pier and sea. It's popular with families and dog walkers (there's a fenced-off dog area, and a separate no-dogs field), and there's a free-to-book tennis court. One parent warned that seagulls can be aggressive around food here.

What locals say

…play park at Stanmer Park (and a decent walk round there too). Hove Lagoon obviously (hopefully they’ve sorted the paddling pool there now). There’s a nice playpark over the road from the Booth Museum too. Lastly (and one we did often with our kids when they were little) is Blakers Park - really nice place to spend time, with bonus points for being round the corner from where we lived and having a pub opposite.

Great view if you stand at the top of Blakers Park (on Preston Drove) and look towards the sea. The trees frame the view, you get the pier, sea front, old city, rows of terraces, the viaduct, and a couple of 60s concrete high rises.
