Brunswick Square

Grand Regency square, quiet green space in Hove

6.7/10

Local score

One of the most-cited beautiful spots in Brighton/Hove, prized alongside Palmeira Square for its Regency architecture, and used for community events like Trans Pride's gathering and even birthday parties. Its no-dogs convention is well respected, making it a favourite for cat owners, though the surrounding area is noted as a pricey place to actually live.

My favourite places in Brighton/Hove - Clifton Hill + Powis Grove. Beautiful houses. Just have a walk around those roads. Palmeira Square & Brunswick Square The rock gardens at Preston Park - a hidden gem I didn’t know about for…

…The Volks Railway takes you to The Marina (if only to see the chalk cliffs at low tide on the far side). The i360 if it's not foggy. The Pier for the seafront views (both day and night) The Royal Pavilion (for the culture and history). Head westwards down the esplanade to see Brunswick Square and Palmeira Square (historic architecture) and the beach huts.

…and still. Don't be put off by the chance of bad weather, though – there are so many warm and cosy pubs and cafes you can take cover in, and that's a big part of Brighton's charm in my opinion. If you have time, definitely spend some time in central Hove (Palmeira Square / Brunswick Square / Church Road area) – there's loads of stunning Regency architecture, heaps of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a much more relaxed vibe than central Brighton. On Hove seafront you also have the new promenade development (known as Hove Beach Park), which is lovely to walk along.…

…around Seven Dials and Hanover. Hanover has more pubs, Seven Dials has more cafes. If your budget can stretch to it you could look in North Laine which has a good mix of both. Kemptown around St. Georges Road is a decent spot too. Hove way, look around Palmeira Square or Brunswick Square. It will tend to be pricey though, but then the whole of central B&H is.
