A trans-friendly Kemptown pub famous for huge portions, especially the ploughman's and fish and chips, plus a popular roast and Thursday quiz billed as the biggest in Brighton. Prices have crept up though, with one report of an £11 pint, and the cider range has narrowed over time.
- Go for
- Huge portions and a big pub quiz
- Heads up
- Pints can be pricey; one report of £11 a pint

Yeah for the price. If the category was called ‘best value for money’ then sure. But biggest portions? What??? The Camelford does MASSIVE portions. I was sure that would win…
Brighton Tavern, St James Tavern, Camelford Arms, and just about any pub on St James St. In fact most pub. It’s not cool to be transphobic in…
I work in a pub in Kemptown called the Camelford Arms. One of our motto’s is “the dog friendliest pub in town” so I suppose that sort of speaks for itself. We also have dog beer which we bought in as well as dog bowls and treats. Hope this helps!
I would take that list with a big pinch of salt, as while I can't speak for everywhere I recognise a fair amount of the pubs listed there as only having mass market ciders. E.g. Camelford has only had Inch's (Heineken and sparkling) the last time I've been - It did use to have Seacider but no more. World's End and Shakespeare's Head only have Orchard Thieves (also Heineken and sparkling). The Cow only has Aspall's (Molson Coors and sparkling) I don't know of any great cider drinker pubs…
