Locals rate this as a proper pub that also does excellent Thai food, via the Thai Zaab kitchen (run by a Thai family) that relocated here after being kicked out of the old St James pub - Pad Thai, yellow curry and spring rolls get particular praise. It's also known for a well-attended Wednesday quiz (jackpot up to £1,000), well-kept Guinness, and low-alcohol options like Big Drop, though it did turn up in a 2025 food hygiene thread.

…they 4X'd their prices just for pride and initially told staff they couldn't wear rainbow clothing, but later caved after it was picketed. Not sure if it's still the same owners now, but I won't go near the place anymore, after being a regular for 8+ years. I tend to go to the Mucky Duck down the road instead now, who thankfully re-homed the amazing Thai kitchen from the St James when they were kicked out.
…up and play at your table. Shakespeare's Head: Nice boozer with excellent selection of sausage and mash. Seriously good food. Nice outside seating out the front. The Hop Poles: Small pub with good drinks selection with a seating area out the back that is undercover. The Mucky Duck: Common all garden pub action but excellent atmos with good crowd and they run a really great quiz or two. The Setting Sun: Nice boozer, pretty standard but the garden and sun set view is just killer. Craft: One of many such pubs in this chain but they do take their drinks seriously and they have a…
Not specifically a noodle bar, but Thai Zaab in the Mucky Duck pub done an absolutely banging Pad Kee Mao, Pad Se Ew and Pad Thai. The rest of their menu is decent too, but I'd eat any of the aforementioned dishes any day of the week.
Throwing another one in the mix - The Mucky Duck. Their Thai Kitchen is run by a thai family - the mum is back in Thailand now but her son has taken over. As far as pub thai goes, this one is my favourite - they don't use ketchup in their pad thai!
