A consistently well-liked sports pub on Upper Gloucester Road, praised for showing football, rugby, F1 and even Eurovision on big screens with a great atmosphere and friendly owners. It's popular enough that booking ahead is recommended for big matches, and there's a much-loved resident pub dog.

The Eddy and The Welly near the station both show it. As does New Unity on London Road. The only issue you might have is that’s it’s quite a big football day today. Brighton are at home at 2pm so all the central pubs will be busy with people for that, and it’s City vs Arsenal at 4:30 so the same applies. New Unity…
I think you're thinking of New Unity. Good shout. Also King and Queens if you want REALLY lively, maybe Walkabout but I haven't been there in years....or The Eddy for a bit more laid-back.
Oh man 😂😂 The Duke of Wellington https://maps.app.goo.gl/BKLVBo9yyrDb4MRk8 And The Eddy next door https://maps.app.goo.gl/44oFRCMbWk78V1mu8 Might fit that "old man pub with football on" description more.
The Eddy on Upper Gloucester Rd show it on multiple screens. Great atmosphere and the owners are really friendly.
