A Ship Street cocktail bar consistently named among Brighton's best for interesting, inventive drinks, with the Papa Dumpling food residency (cheap, well-loved dumplings, kitchen open till 11) as a big draw. A reliable date-night pick, best earlier in the evening, and runs £8-cocktail R&D nights.

If you’re willing to venture out towards Hove and you’re looking for a night out of food then you won’t find better than Palmito and Fourth & Church. In town, Burnt Orange, 64 Degrees are amongst my faves. The Golden Pineapple always has an interesting food concession on the go as well.
…price. But I'm surprised no one has mentioned these. Most similar to Burnt Orange is Embers, and the most similar to Etch is Furna. Dilsk is also similar on the fine dining end. Bincho is similar to Bonsai, but does meat and veggie. If you like interesting cocktails, Golden Pineapple is good. It's more of a bar, but their gonna be doing dumplings from their kitchen soon.
The hole in the wall is a nice pub. Golden Pineapple is always a good spot earlier in the evening. The Pond, although does get busy. Valentinos is great early evening. Plotting Parlour has Hove and Brighton sites now.
Rossi Bar for relaxed drinks or Golden Pineapple for amazing Cocktails could be nice! Food at Bonsai is lovely, but Veggie food isn't limited down here - just depends what you're willing to spend really. If they really fancy it, play Toad at The Windmill…
