Grassroots venue under Brighton Station known for gigs across metal, punk, indie and electronic, plus regular themed club nights like 80s-only Saturdays and Y2K nights. Redditors rate it as one of the best small venues in the city, with £3 shows sometimes on offer and staff who introduced drink-testing kits and cup lids for safety. It can get packed for popular nights, so book ahead if you're in a large group.

What locals say

…check out what's on there. The Metal to the Masses heats will be on there soon. The Pipeline is also a great little bar and does a lot of small gigs, mix of metal and punk. Has a good jukebox too. The Yellow book and the Caz are fine but not what they used to be. The Green Door Store occasionally has some good gigs on, as does the Prince Albert. If you're really into gigs I'd recommend following some promoters: Paralytic Promotions, South Coast Extreme Metal, BN1 etc.

Green Door Store—80s night on Saturdays is always fun. Volks. Concorde II does a wide range of music but it is a bit out of the way. Legends or Revolution. Patterns is fine. I've not been, but heard Casablanca can be fun. Most proper club places in Brighton will attract loads of different age groups because nobody…

…especially on your own (more so if you're a women), so I'd avoid it after around 11:00, or when it gets dark. As for stuff to do, most of the queer pubs, bars and clubs are very friendly (The Actors near the Pavilion gets a shout out from me) and the staff are lovely. Green Door Store under Brighton Station will have some music playing. Might be live or might be a DJ. Good vibes there and they're usually open into the early morning. If you're looking for a cheapish meal, Pompoko gets a thumbs up from most people here. Just keep in mind they're cash only. Hope you have a great…

Green Door 15 years ago was phenomenal. A true alternative venue. I went recently and it was full of first year uni students huffing vapes and sharing a pint between 4 people.
