Church Road cafe/bar in Hove best known for brunch and, more surprisingly, a well-loved Indian menu - the peshwari naan gets singled out more than once as some of the best Indian food in Brighton and Hove. It doubles as a decent spot to work from (grab an upstairs seat) and is dog-friendly, though it's not universally loved - one Redditor flatly called it 'shite'.

…but usually order coffee / OJ separately - and always tip so I don't think they mind me sitting in there for a bit. Plus it is super spacious but you need to register for their wifi so I usually tether on phone, which works fine for me. I live in the area so also check out Hixon Green, Brod + Wolf and I echo the Brighton Library at non peak times. Generally, I suggest not going during peak lunch rush unless you are ordering food.
Hixon Green’s kitchen was an Indian one - not sure if it still is but I hope so because their peshwari naan was to die for A couple of people I used to live with lived in India for some time, they both said it was the best Indian food they’d ever had in Brighton and…
What does Oeuf have going for it other than the Instagrammable decor? I've eaten there twice and found the food disappointing and overpriced. Much better options nearby (Baked, Hixon Green, Jo & Co, Fika, Billies)
…some good stuff and are happy to tweak things a bit to order as well. Good vegan breakfast, nice pancakes. Ouef is overpriced but good if you want to feel a bit bougie. Not a huge vegan selection, but what is on offer is good and the drinks menu is great, lots of mocktails. Hixon Green looks tempting, don't be tempted, it's shite. (Also swing into Hellrude Records near North Laine if you get a chance, great selection of hardcore usually, sometimes some cool rare UKHC merch and whatnot too, local, independent, nice people!)
