A long-running North Laine wholefood shop regulars call a genuine Brighton institution, praised for its bakery (fresh bread, pizza slices, sausage rolls, scones) and range of vegan and ethically-sourced goods like mead and vegan panettone. One caveat: the bakery can't guarantee no cross-contamination, so it's not reliably safe for coeliacs despite gluten-free options.

- Vegan shopping and the best bread in town
- Heads up
- Bakery can't guarantee gluten-free cross-contamination

Yeah, HISBE & Infinity Foods would be my first port of call. If you’re looking for ethical but also easy (Infinity isn’t that large and both are in town) then Waitrose are better than some of the other big supermarkets. Not perfect by any stretch but a quick google (to Ethical Consumer for example) should give you the ammo you…
Someone asked this a few months back - seems like Infinity Foods is the answer when in season - https://old.reddit.com/r/brighton/comments/1dtrxxg/tomatillos/ Someone suggested trying to grow them yourself which I'd never even considered - I just assumed the climate wasn't right to grow them here but I'm going to try next summer. I cook a lot of Mexican food but…
Why do u call it pretentious? I’m a big fan of the Sussex Peasant farmers market - they do pop ups around town every day Thu - Sun (check their website) - local and organic. Will also vouch for HISBE and there is the OG Infinity Foods in the North Laine. One place local to me is Harriett’s of Hove which is a plastic free pantry but I know there are other similar places around town.
Quite a few of the options above aren't celiac friendly (source - friend with celiac). Anywhere with airborne flour will be a problem. Fatto A Mano in Brighton is Celiac friendly, but the one in Hove only has one oven in a small kitchen. Infinity Foods can't guarantee no cross contamination in the bakery. Gluten Free options doesn't guarantee a lack of cross contamination. A few places below which I can confirm are Celiac friendly as I have eaten there with her: - Fatto A Mano Brighton - Pho - The Witchez (also best restaurant in B&H IMO) -…
