Small, family-run vegetarian Gujarati restaurant on Trafalgar Street, repeatedly called the best Indian (or best restaurant, full stop) in Brighton. Highlights include the samosa chaat-style starters, family-style sharing dishes, a warm homely feel and genuinely good value, though it's tiny (around 24 seats) and only open a couple of days a week so it's hard to get in.

…on Richmond Parade in Brighton. It's vegetarian, Gujarati, good value, and exceptionally tasty. Family cooking in what feels like a family's dining room. The starters are the main event. Particularly the Samosa Chaat and the Khaman Dokla (probably spelt wrong). I also second Manjus - my second favourite Gujarati restaurant but still excellent.

I went to Tofu Vegan on Friday for my friend's birthday it was amazing. Everything was really tasty. You can get refillable rice and have a few dishes to go with it. I'll be going back soon. Manjus is also a favourite. It's small and cosy. The food is great.

North Laine has lots of nice pubs and cafes. The Prince Albert for music, The Evening Star for excellent beer. To eat, try Mangetout, O’Shio for Japanese and Korean food, Manjus for incredible Indian food and Le Baobab Cuisine for Senegalese. Not sure about activities, depends what you’re into but you won’t be very far away from the seafront, pavillion or dome.

Never quite understood the hype about Manju's. Only been once but thought it was overpriced for what it was. Also got a few friends from India who I work/play sport with locally and they think it is bang average lol, and having eaten at some of their homes, I trust their judgment / palettes! Take me to Vel or Dosa Kingdom any day. (Or if between here and…
