Repeatedly named Brighton's best pizza, especially by the slice from the Trafalgar Street shop (originally Toby's) — the parmesan crust and NY-ish pizzas have a big following, and you may need to book a table. A vocal minority found it overrated, reporting 'diabolical' quality on off-visits (with refunds given), patchy Uber Eats reviews, and a cramped, hot dining room.

What locals say

Tony's is the best. Anyone saying another pizza place hasn't tried Tony's. This was called Toby's originally and became a bit of a Brighton thing during the lockdown. Their parm crust was their big selling point. Tried most of the others in Brighton and this one comes out on top every time.

Tony's hands down. If you haven't been, you don't know and if you disagree you're objectively wrong.

Ah I see. Well Pommy and Tonys have a few branches already and quality still seems good. I just prefer the crispy base style as opposed to more traditional Neapolitan. If you favour the latter I’d recommend Torino or Naninella.

VIP will always be top dog in my opinion. Had Cutie Pies at North Laine the other week and was really impressed, but it is expensive. Pizza 500 is good, I compare it to a really really good homemade pizza (no shade), and I think the price is reflective of this. Tony’s gets a lot of hype but out of the three times I’ve had it, twice I’ve been refunded in full because it was diabolical - this was the saving grace, the owners/brothers care about their brand. But part of me thinks the full refunds were to avoid a bad review. Yeah the pizza is good (when it’s cooked properly),…
