Mash Tun

Scruffy-cool North Laine local, loud and always busy

A scruffy, unpretentious North Laine local that posters call 'the most Brighton-y' pub around, with a young, alternative crowd and loud music — some regard it as Brighton's unofficial signature pub. It's also repeatedly named as having some of the worst pub toilets in the city, and one commenter contrasted it unfavourably as being 'full of students'.

Nowhere man. Does incredible American style pancakes in the most 'Brighton' style cafe. The Mash Tun on a weekend is pretty Brighton, visit the Prince Albert, going to a Brighton comedy night.... Off the top of my head.

…You can pretty much wear anything, I think Brighton is pretty accepting so whatever you're comfortable in (: For pubs I'd recommend somewhere like the Hope & Ruin for good food and drinks, they also do lots of live music upstairs as well. For a good atmosphere, try The Mash Tun or the Black Lion (both get very busy on weekends so depends if you're ok with that!) If you fancy something a bit more quirky, try the Bee's Mouth, I love it in there but can be hard to find a seat. Honestly I could recommend so many…

I’m already planning to see some of the touristic places but I’m very interested in the nightlife lol. Plus, what do girls wear in clubs? I’m overthinking probably”
I second the Pond. You can reserve a table and they do awesome food. The Good Companion up at the Dials has a nice pub-y feel without being full of students like the Mash Tun etc.
