This independent Hove pub is loved for cheap food deals: 2-for-1 burgers on Mondays, 2-4-1 wings on Wednesdays, and what several locals call the best wings in Brighton. It also doubles as a community space, with an upstairs room hired out for events and artist meetups, and is a good spot to watch big matches.

What locals say

Gotta get us started with the following: The Jolly Brewer, Ditching Road. The Farm Tavern, Farm Road. The Bevy, Hillside (truly the most independent pub in Brighton). I have to include the Basketmakers and the Poets Ale and Smokehouse. I know they're in a little group but it is independent and truly local, but this is the place to correct me if I am wrong.

I organise a free weekly drop-in for artists at the Poets Ale & Smokehouse. It's an unstructured social event where you can meet other artists of all kinds and hopefully get collaborating. We're planning an anthology zine at the moment that you could contribute to if you'd like.
