Royal Pavilion
Brighton's must-see palace, worth the hype

No. 1 of 25 places to visit on r/brighton, from 43 locals across 50 threads.
100% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.
The default recommendation for visitors and elderly relatives alike — an opulent 19th-century palace with gold-and-red Chinese-style rooms and a chandelier said to weigh a tonne, plus gardens good for a sit-down and a cuppa. Defended even by locals as genuinely worth it despite being mainstream, and it runs a (slightly pricey) outdoor ice rink with penguin skate aids for kids over the festive period.
- Go for
- First-time visitors wanting Brighton's history and culture
- Heads up
- Winter ice-skating sessions on site are a bit pricey
