Repeatedly recommended as a free place to sit, work or wait it out — plenty of seating, wifi, plugs, toilets and a downstairs cafe, with no pressure to buy anything. The top floor is quieter and good for laptop work, though the comfy sofa seats near the entrance fill up fast and it's not ideal for calls or meetings. Also stocks free nappies and hygiene supplies at the entrance.

Jubilee Library! Lots of seating, toilets, Wi-Fi, and a coffee shop if you want to spend cash (but no pressure to buy if you don’t want to). I am doing an MSc, so study here often. I appreciate that it’s not a specific student-only place, but it’s handy.

Jubilee Library. It’s open 11-5 on Sundays. It’s pretty big and the top floor is usually very quiet. Most cafes will be busy today, but the Trading Post Coffee (Ship St) is large enough for you to find a more secluded space.

…one is near you, looking keen to steal your food, MAKE EYE CONTACT. Tell the gull "NO", and it will understand. It might still try to beg or steal but it won't see you as an 'easy mark'. 4. Certain areas are hotspots for seagull crime. Be aware of this. The Pavillion gardens, Jubilee Library and around Churchill Square are high risk. I consider myself reasonably educated on gulls, but I never walk around or sit in these areas with uncovered food. 5. Gulls fly. They don't like things that block them flying. Gulls avoid trees as they're too big to get through branches and cannot roost in…
