What locals say

…food. Nice outside seating out the front. The Hop Poles: Small pub with good drinks selection with a seating area out the back that is undercover. The Mucky Duck: Common all garden pub action but excellent atmos with good crowd and they run a really great quiz or two. The Setting Sun: Nice boozer, pretty standard but the garden and sun set view is just killer. Craft: One of many such pubs in this chain but they do take their drinks seriously and they have a massive selection of craft brews. Otherwise it's a pretty standard modern pine pub. …too like a dirty old man. Ive lived in various parts of Brighton, but I would say that Hanover worked well for me in that it has lots of local pubs and the regulars are friendly. My regular locals were what is now the Haus on the Hill (formerly the Pub with No Name) and The Setting Sun, and I got chatting to people in both of those. …also great for a little stop off. Amazing beers and will be quiet on a weekday. Opens at 4pm tho FYI Great Eastern is also lovely and quiet in the day time. A proper nice small old pub inside. But is pretty lairy in the evenings. Neither of these have views, really. But The Setting Sun has a lovely view, obviously. So worth checking out for that.

…is a nice circular walk along and across the river Adur if you start at the Shoreham beach car park. Drusillas zoo is near Alfiston is worth a visit. Alfriston also has some nice walks. From Peacehaven you could also go to southease where there is a nice walk. In Brighton find the Setting Sun pub in Hanover for a sunset drink or meal. You could go to Sea Lanes at the east end of Brighton beach for a drink and a sauna. Take a walk up St James street and surrounding streets in Brighton to get a sense of the LGBTQ community. Hope those help.
