Albion win all three Premier League awards for September
Fabian Hurzeler is manager of the month, Pascal Gross is the first Albion player to be player of the month, and Lewis Dunk has goal of the month.
Brighton & Hove Albion have won the Premier League’s manager, player and goal of the month awards for September. Only four clubs had done it before.
Fabian Hurzeler was named Barclays Manager of the Month after Albion beat Coventry City 5-0 away, drew 1-1 with Leeds United and beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex. They scored nine league goals in the month and conceded one. They are now third in the table.
It is his second manager of the month award. The first came in August 2024.
Pascal Gross took the EA Sports Player of the Month award, the first Albion player to win it. He scored twice and set up three goals in September: a goal and two assists at Coventry, then the opening goal against Arsenal and the pass for Chema Andres to score. He is 35, and only the fourth German to win the award, after Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and Jurgen Klinsmann. His team-mate Charalampos Kostoulas was also on the shortlist.
Lewis Dunk’s goal at Coventry, hit into the top corner from 30 yards, won the Guinness Goal of the Month. Albion’s captain is the fifth Albion player to win it.
The Premier League points out that Hurzeler, at 33, is younger than two of the other winners. Gross is 35 and Dunk is 34.
Hurzeler gave the fans much of the credit. “The fans were singing, cheering and supporting us,” he said. “They are loud and that’s massive for us, and really creates this fortress we want to have at home.”
Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth are the other clubs to have won all three in the same month. The league resumes after the international break, with Albion away at Sunderland on 10 October.
