Dim sum class at the Community Kitchen
A hands-on evening class with Jethro Carr: siu mai, dumpling folds and cooking in a steamer basket over a wok, then dinner.
The Food Partnership’s Community Kitchen on Queens Road runs a dim sum class on Wednesday 21 October, 6pm to 9pm, led by its cookery leader Jethro Carr. You learn about the different styles of dim sum and the specialist ingredients, then cook your own in a traditional steamer basket over a wok. Everyone makes siu mai, a kind of open wonton, and practises dumpling folds with different fillings, working in pairs.
Tickets are £69.99. That covers ingredients, hot drinks, the recipes and a full meal at the end, which you can eat there or take home. You can bring your own drink. Say when booking if you need the vegan or vegetarian version; the class can’t be made gluten-free. Profits go to the Food Partnership’s community cookery work.
The kitchen has level access, an accessible toilet and one height-adjustable cooking station.
