Brighton Italian Festival holds a free street party in Jubilee Square on Sunday

Pasta, gelato, Italian wine and a live stage from midday on 11 October, part of a festival running from 8 to 18 October.

Jubilee Square will host the second Italian Street Party on Sunday 11 October, from midday until late. Entry is free.

The organisers promise freshly cooked pasta, artisan street food and gelato, Italian wine and stalls. A live stage will have bands and performers on through the day. Dogs are welcome.

The party is part of the Brighton Italian Festival, now in its third edition, which runs from 8 to 18 October.

Later in the week, Spaghetti Disco returns to Hotel Pelirocco on Regency Square on Thursday 15 October at 7pm. The playlist is Italian disco, funk, pop and ballads, from Mina, Raffaella Carrà and Battisti to Måneskin. A £12 ticket includes a welcome drink, a plate of spaghetti at midnight and entry to a raffle for a room at the hotel that night, breakfast included. The festival says the night has sold out twice before.

On 17 October, Opera Viva returns to the festival for a second time. Presented by Simon Gray, it puts the singers in the same room as the audience for a programme of mainly Italian opera. The organisers say there is “no pressure and no forced participation.”
