Connie's Pizza is giving away 1,000 free slices on Gardner Street on Thursday

The thin-crust pizzeria from Peckham opens in the old Gourmet Burger Kitchen on Friday 9 October. Slices go from 12pm, first come, first served.

North LaineConnie’s Pizza opens its second restaurant on Friday 9 October, in the former Gourmet Burger Kitchen at 44-47 Gardner Street in the North Laine. The day before, Thursday 8 October, it will hand out 1,000 free slices from 12pm, first come, first served.

The first Connie’s opened in Peckham. Its founder is Andrea Asciuti, a Naples-born pizzaiolo who also founded 081 Pizzeria. The name comes from his wife, Connie. Brighton is its first site outside London.

Landlords in Regency and Central Hove will need a licence from 20 October

The council is expanding its selective licensing scheme for private rented homes to two more wards, where it estimates up to 7,274 properties will require a licence.

From 20 October, private landlords in the Regency and Central Hove wards will need a licence from Brighton & Hove City Council to rent out a home. The council estimates that up to 7,274 properties will need one.

The scheme covers homes let to one occupier, two occupiers or a family. HMOs licensed under the council’s mandatory or additional HMO schemes are not included. Homes let by a registered social landlord are exempt.
