Amelia & The Housewives put out their self-titled debut album

The Brighton indie-pop band's 10-song record came out on INH Records on 2 October, with a free launch matinee at Daltons the next day.

Brighton band Amelia & The Housewives released their debut album on Friday 2 October. It’s self-titled, has 10 songs and is out on INH Records.

The band’s first single, Maybe, came out on the Damaged Goods label. They recorded five songs before they had played a single gig, and John Kennedy played all of them on Radio X, calling the band “Brighton’s best kept secret”. Two singles since then are on the album, among them Narcissist, released in July.

Singer Amelia told Popoptica that the band writes “most of our songs via the band’s WhatsApp group”. Narcissist was written on a bus from Brighton to Eastbourne on the hottest day of the year, while bandmate Jonny was in San Francisco, where it was raining. “Most of our songs seem to get written on bus and train journeys,” she said.

The line-up is Jonny, Steve, Amelia, Lola, Tim, Dan and Fintan.

The album was celebrated with a free midday show at Daltons on Saturday 3 October, with support from Superfriends and DJ Ben Salter, as first reported by Brighton Source. The record is on INH Records’ Bandcamp page.
