Free film trails will project short films onto Brighton's walls on 24 October

Oska Bright and Dreamy Place run two walking trails from Prince Albert Street: five nature films at 7pm, five queer films at 8.30pm.

On Saturday 24 October, Oska Bright Film Festival and Dreamy Place will project short films onto walls and buildings in central Brighton, and guide the audience between them on foot. There are two free trails. Both start outside Food for Friends on Prince Albert Street.

Oska Bright shows films made by or featuring learning disabled and autistic people. Its 2026 festival ran in Brighton from 28 March to 2 April, and Nature and Queer Freedom were two of its strands.

The Nature trail, from 7pm to 8pm, brings together five short films inspired by nature. One is local: Debbie Caulfield’s The Atrees re-imagines the Devil’s Dyke legend. In Breathing Reef, by Satu Kaarin Tani and Maria Anniina Tani, a crocheted coral reef is attacked by a black oily figure and dies, then hatches from an egg with a shaman’s help and returns to the ocean.

The Queer Freedom trail, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, brings together five short films selected from the festival’s Queer Freedom strand. Sophie Jayne Doyle’s Turing, about Alan Turing’s arrest in 1952, is narrated by Stephen Fry. In Finding Trixie, Danny Smith dances as his drag alter ego, Trixie Pixie. Penn Bálint’s Soviet Fantasia follows Hajnal as they leave a post-Soviet country for a new life in England.

Each trail is free, and booking is recommended. The Dreamy Place team will be wearing hi-vis vests at the meeting point, which is opposite Zizzi.
