Ten-man Albion win 2-0 at Sunderland for a third league win in a row

Maxim De Cuyper scored, then Jaouen Hadjam got one on his Premier League debut. Albion stay third after Pascal Struijk's red card.

Brighton & Hove Albion beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, with ten men for the last half-hour. It was their first run of three straight Premier League wins in eight years.

Neither side scored in the first half, though both hit the woodwork. Albion’s chance came in stoppage time, when Pascal Struijk headed a Pascal Gross free kick against the far post.

Netball

Top-flight netball returns to the Brighton Centre in March and April

London Mavericks host Leeds Rhinos on 7 March and champions Manchester Thunder on 24 April. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Monday.

London Mavericks will play two Netball Super League home games at the Brighton Centre next year. They host NIC Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 7 March 2027 and AO Manchester Thunder on Saturday 24 April 2027. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Monday 12 October.

The March game is the Mavericks’ first home game of the 2027 season, and Leeds arrive as “a completely rebuilt Leeds Rhinos side”, according to the venue’s listing. In April the Mavericks take on AO Thunder, the reigning champions. The Mavericks squad includes Uneeq Palavi.

Brighton Dome Comedy Festival starts 16 October: the shows, dates and prices

Tom Davis plays the Concert Hall on 16 October and Sam Campbell has two nights there on 24 and 25 October. This year the Dome has partnered with Komedia.

The Brighton Dome Comedy Festival opens on Friday 16 October and runs until Sunday 25 October. This year the Dome has teamed up with Komedia, so the 10-day programme fills the Concert Hall, the Corn Exchange and the Studio Theatre at the Dome, plus Komedia’s Basement and Studio.
