Town halls fly the Black History Month flag as October's events begin

This year the council is honouring Black residents who keep communities going: volunteers, teachers, nurses, carers and organisers.

The Black History Month flag is flying from Hove and Brighton town halls and will stay up all of October, Brighton & Hove City Council said.

The council has picked a theme for the month. Rather than notable figures, it is recognising Black residents “whose contributions are part of everyday life, yet too often go unseen”: volunteers, teachers, nurses and carers, and the community leaders and organisers who bring people together.

Fatboy Slim plays two benefit nights at Quarters for the Albion Foundation

The DJ plays Quarters for the first time on 13 and 14 October, raising money for the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation.

Fatboy Slim is playing two nights at Quarters on Brighton seafront, on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 October. The money goes to the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation, the football club’s charity. They will be his first shows at Quarters.

Tuesday’s show starts early, at 6pm. Wednesday’s runs from 9.30pm to 2am. Both are for over-18s, and Quarters says there is no entry without ID. General admission is £39.50 for each night. Quarters says 100% of the ticket price goes to the Foundation.
