Best steak in Brighton, hands down

8.7/10

Local score

Consistently voted Brighton's best steakhouse, coming out ahead of Coal Shed, Kindling and even Hawksmoor in local comparisons - the skirt steak and sweetbreads in mustard sauce get particular praise, and it's run by a family described as lovely and friendly. It's popular enough to get booked up fast.

What locals say

Baqueano all day long. The steak is the best in Brighton, and better than places like Hawksmoor, IMO. Staff are lovely too. The sweetbreads in mustard sauce are a great way to start your meal.

Baqueano for steak, Halisco for authentic Mexican tacos, The Vital Ingredient for Caribbean, Casa don Carlos for Spanish, Fatto a Mano for pizza, The Ginger pig for feelin’ fancy, Petit pois for French, Taste of Sahara for Moroccan (is also byo!), Cases for wine and charcuterie.

Don't go to the Coal Shed though, go to Baqueano. The quality gap is so large it's not even funny. Also cheaper.

Any body know a tasting menu in the style of 64 degrees without fish/seafood/molluscs? Can't eat sea produce due to allergies. We've had Baqueano and it was great, but I've not found any others that are at least 90% edible for me.
