Redditors rate the Hove Street beer garden among the best in the area and praise the pork roast (huge crackling) and schnitzel, with veggie and vegan roast options too. Gripes include pints being pricey (£6.60-£7 for a pint), the pub interior itself being a bit bland, and dogs being banned during Sunday roast service despite the pub otherwise being dog-friendly.

What locals say
Check out The Connaught, on Hove Street. It's no garden of tranquility, but still a nice space with more of a pub garden kind of feel to it. The pub inside is a little bland, but the garden is one of my favourite.
The Seahorse is a fab venue - right on the seafront, beautiful building, a terrace, space for dancing, and right next to the bandstand. The Connaught in Hove is also a great place. It's a bit further out the way, but really friendly and I'm pretty sure they can meet your needs if you talk to…
The ginger pig is really good and they have lovely cocktails if you fancy a pre dinner drink. The Connaught is also really good. The George Payne used to be excellent but I think they had quite a few chefs turnaround there and I haven’t been for ages.
The Connaught explicitly doesn't allow dogs during Sunday roasts, sadly.
