Everything is cooked over open fire by Terre à Terre's former head chef, and most diners call it some of the best food they've had in Brighton, with good cocktails and standout sides like smoky broccoli. It's not universal praise though - one diner was served raw chicken, mains are seen as poor value next to the small plates, and there are claims of high kitchen staff turnover.

If you like fine dining, I think the best overall is Furna. Etch is popular too. If you like something lively, Bincho, Halisco and Palmito are all great. If you like stylish/moody decor and small sharing plates, Flint House/Embers/Burnt Orange/Med are good. Asian laces worth a look. Oshio (korean/Japanese), Mr Wang hotpot, Namo eats, Unithai, Soju, Goemon, Shaanxi, Anakuma.
