Repeatedly named among Brighton and Hove's best, praised for small plates, an extensive wine and sherry list, and knowledgeable, chatty staff - a window stool at the bar is a favourite spot. It's a go-to for date nights, private dining and cheeseboards, though one diner warns to double-check the bill.
- Go for
- Small plates, good wine and a date night
- Heads up
- Double-check your bill; can run pricey.
What locals say
Fourth & Church in Hove is my favourite place. Great food and an extensive and magnificent wine list. Get a seat at the bar if it’s just two of you. Palmito, also Hove, is an absolute belter but a very different vibe to Burnt Orange and miles apart from Etch in its style. It’s small and frenetic but I genuinely…
Plateau or Fourth & Church for small plates. Mange Tout for brunch/lunch. 64 degrees for fairly expensive tasting menu. Bincho Yakitori for amazing grilled Japanese food. Hard to get a table so book in advance. Planet India for insanely good curry.
If you’re willing to venture out towards Hove and you’re looking for a night out of food then you won’t find better than Palmito and Fourth & Church. In town, Burnt Orange, 64 Degrees are amongst my faves. The Golden Pineapple always has an interesting food concession on the go as well.
Second this - the food is deeply average but very expensive and you could do a lot better elsewhere. Semolina, Wild Flor and Fourth and Church as examples - equally or less expensive and the food is a thousand times…
