Widely called the best ramen in Brighton, praised especially for the soy milk ramen and packing huge flavour into a simple, budget-friendly menu. There's no alcohol licence (bring your own) and no bookings, so it's known for queues out the door on weekend evenings.

Goemon Ramen Bar and Nanninella Pizzeria on Preston Street are both very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I hear Pompoko in the North Laine is good value but I've not tried it yet. Easy Tiger @ The Hampton is great food, cheaper than most of the other modern Indian places around, and it's a fun pub…

…but not that many bars! For Japanese food my recommendations would be: Pompoko Oshio Moshimo Shogun Ramen Bincho Yakitori Sushi Garden All offering different things, but if I had to pick two of those it would be Bincho and Oshio. From experience I would avoid Kujira and Goemon Ramen but that’s just my preference, and if you wanted to try something out of Japanese but still in Asia I’d hit up Milk No Sugar on Trafalgar Street! Husband is vegetarian and I can safely say that Brighton is great at catering for veggies! We recently visited Botanique in Hove and were absolutely blown…
