Consistently ranked among the best, most authentic Chinese restaurants in Brighton, especially for the all-you-can-eat Sichuan hotpot upstairs (around £25, minimum two people) and the dan dan noodles. Multiple commenters mention the friendly owner and that it's a favourite even among Chinese students, with several ranking it above China Garden.

What locals say

…- China Garden: Only for the dimsum afternoon lunch, otherwise overpriced. - HK Place: not as fancy but the food there is always amazing. - Shaanxi Noodle Bar: The best hand-pulled noodles in brighton. Homemade dumplings and chinese burgers are amazing too. - Lucky Star or New Era: A better alternative to China Garden normal menu in my opinion. Their all you can eat hotpot is good value if you can eat a lot. - Mr Wang: hotpot as well but self portion sizes and cheaper. Bewared of how much you can eat before loading the basket as it can get expensive fast!! Hope you guys have a great…

I'm partial to the Sichuan-style hot pot they do upstairs at New Era (all you can eat for £25) and you can even get a fresh crab to put in there (unfortunately the crab is only one per table lol). Top choices in ranked order of preference: New Era - Queens Road Full house - London road Famous Sichuan - Queens Road Good friends - Preston street China garden - Preston Street All authentic Chinese food, all worth checking out. …British Chinese Takeaway stuff at the back of the menu, but stick to the authentic stuff in the front. Recommend: Spicy fish: it’s a massive bowl of white fish fillets swimming in a spicy and numbing broth. And the roast pork. An entire pork joint in a spicy gravy. Also New Era for similar real Chinese food.
