Repeatedly named Brighton's best pizza, run almost single-handedly by owner Nino on Waterloo Street. Reviewers say it beats bigger-name spots like Fatto a Mano and Franco Manca, single out the arancini as a must-order, and describe it as cheap and genuinely authentic rather than a tourist version of Italian food.

Go for
Cheap, authentic Italian pizza and arancini

What locals say

Pronto in Tavola!!! in Waterloo Street. Not as known as VIP or Fatto a Mano, but everything is done by Nino, the owner. He cooks, serves and takes care of everything on his own. Seriously doubt you will find a more original Italian place in this corner of the country.

Morelli Zorelli on Western Road next to The Freemasons has been better than Fatto a Mano for me. Pronto in Tavola on Waterloo St is also a hidden gem worth trying.

Nanninella, VIP are both good. But a place I never hear mentioned is Pronto in Tavola. It's a small place run by (if memory serves) an Italian father and his young daughter. Cheap and so…
