100% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.
A Preston Circus favourite thanks to its big garden (with an outdoor screen for football), a well-liked Monday quiz with a cash prize, and Sunday roasts locals call 'banging' with generous veggie and vegan portions. It's cosy enough for reading by the fire, though one regular notes it 'loses points' if there's a match on.
- Go for
- A proper Sunday roast in a cosy garden
- Heads up
- Gets rowdy with football on; less cosy match days

…family. To book the room and ceremony was £550 all in. We had two nights in a hotel in Eastbourne, and all family members paid for their own rooms. We paid for a dinner for all and a bar (£500 total). We then did an afternoon in a pub garden two weeks later in Brighton (The Signalman, who were great btw) and that was probably about £1500 in the end with the bar tab. We had 60 people at the pub, 9 in total on the actual wedding day. Remember, it's entirely up to you and what you want to do and how you want to celebrate your big day. TLDR - yes a £5k wedding is definitely possible.
A new block of flats that was going to replace the Signalman pub garden was successfully prevented, mainly because the pub was argued to be ‘an asset of community value’ The same was attempted for the now defunct Freebutt, so it’s not a sure thing. Also, I suppose if the new flats don’t actually require the replacement of any aspect of the pub when they’re…
Most of the pubs close to the i360 have pretty average roasts. It's worth going a bit further into town for a quality lunch. My fav roasts are at West Hill, The Farm or the Signalman.
I went to the Signalman the other day based on a recommendation from this subreddit and it was banging - they have veggie and vegan options and the portion sizes are huge.
