A St James's Street sandwich shop repeatedly named Brighton's best, especially the Reuben and the Philly cheesesteak. It's not cheap, but a large is said to cover two meals; a vegan wrap option gets praise too. A couple of long-time customers say quality has slipped recently - smaller portions, different bread, higher prices, and sandwiches sometimes swimming in oil.

What locals say

I have all the sympathy for you rn. If you're near the centre, Redroaster or Social Board. Social Board's Philly with a Lemon Fanta was my go-to when I was closer to the city centre.

Can 100% vouch for Earls, but Social Board on St James Street does some absolutely mega sandwiches. Their Chicken, Bacon and Avocado is amazing, but they also have some amazing options like porchetta and pesto or chicken tender ones. Defo worth a visit. They aren't the cheapest, but a large can cover you for two meals.

If you’re a fan of the Reuben sandwich, Social Board does the best one I’ve ever eaten (and I’ve eaten quite a few)

Social Board! They’re always on what to try in Brighton TikToks but I always find their sandwiches are swimming in oil/grease every time I’ve…
