Regularly named among Brighton's best coffee alongside Ikigai, Komodo and Loam, Stoney Point on Montpelier Place is praised for consistently excellent flat whites, savoury scones and outstanding Swedish cinnamon buns, plus Monmouth beans (including a good decaf) to take home. It's best treated as a takeaway spot since there's very little room to sit, especially in a group.

Ikigai, Komodo, LOAM are my top 3. 17_Grams, Dharma, The Botanist, Triple Point, Stoney Point, Bond Street follow in no particular order. All the above are my faves in Central/Lanes/North Laine but there are *loads* more amazing places if you fancy a sojourn out of the main hubs of the city. Flour Pot also does a lovely coffee and are an independent chain. I avoid Wolfox/Trading Post because of…

More of a window than a shop but Stoney Point on Montpelier Place is just top notch consistently. Pair a flat white with one of those ridiculous sticky cinnamon buns and you’re good to go.

1. Stoney Point, 2. Coffee@33, 3. Ikigai (fairly new place on Queens Road) are all banging and on a par. So many places I used to rate are terrible. Someone recommended LOAM to me recently and it was the worst, most acrid, burnt coffee I’ve ever had. For £4. Made it too far to work to take it back. Avoid that place.

Stoney Point, Ikigai and coffee 33 for me as well. Honourable mentions to Flat Out, Twin Pines. 17 Grams roastery in North Laine meant to be very good but I’ve never been. LOAM, Triple Point, Dandy, Komodo, Bond Street all decent but inconsistent. 44 poets meant to be good but I’ve personally never had a good…
