Go-to salad and veg buffet on Western Road

6.7/10

Local score

No. 37 of 141 cafés on r/brighton, from 35 locals across 26 threads.

90% would send a mate. Some say it’s gone downhill lately.

A regular pick for cheap, plant-based, self-serve lunches, with fans naming the roast aubergine and the (returning) all-you-can-eat buffet as highlights, and prices called very reasonable. Others find it inconsistent, describing salads as too oily and lacking texture, and note it closes early.

Go for
A quick, healthy, vegan-friendly salad lunch
Heads up
Quality can be inconsistent; some salads come out oily.

What locals say

…rated breakfast places are: Starfish and Coffee, Moksha, and the Breakfast Club (this one is a chain). There's also Oeuf in Hove, slightly fancier than the other ones. More brunch options here https://restaurantsbrighton.co.uk/best-brunch-brighton/ For lunch I'd recommend Foodilic (great salad bar), or the Open Market which has different shops and cafes which means plenty of choice. Enjoy, and don't feed the seagulls!

The first pic & the fried "egg" were both from the vegan market they do on the first Saturday of the month at the open market 😁 Rest of the places: Garden Cafe, Foodilic, Nowhere Man, No Catch, The Wick Inn, Brighton Beach Cafe, Bagelman, Crosstown, Caffe Bar Italia, Little Jack Fullers, Dominos, Infinity Foods, The Joker Sadly a few of the places shown have shut down since the photo…

Po opened up doing salads and jacket potatoes etc in Hove by the council building and the place is rammed whenever I go, so feels like there is a market for it. Foodilic feels like the only place that truly does this in the centre and they really lack the texture and balance a sweetgreen/salad project type place has (they're nice but I find a lot of their salads just too oily)
