Best known for Alberta's kitchen upstairs, with praise for its Sunday roast, wings and fried chicken, plus good Guinness and alcohol-free draft options. One reviewer called the fried chicken 'overpriced and nothing too special', and a quiz night was marred by an assault from regular winners that the owners reportedly didn't act on.
- Go for
- Alberta's Sunday roast and fried chicken
- Heads up
- Quiz nights have seen aggressive regulars; food called overpriced
What locals say
I know it’s not city centre but Preston Park Tavern is very good. More central I’d say The Geese or Alberta’s at The Windmill for something slightly different. Not a far walk. My experience of Town is that they’re not as good as pubs in more residential areas.
The roasts they're doing at The Windmill now are off-the-scale good. They're not traditional meat and gravy stuff but more American fried chicken and bbq influenced. The whole fried chickens with sides is particularly worth a shout if you're sharing.…
Don’t think Bincho is all that amazing. Wild Flor, Fourth and Church, Embers and Kab are my current favourites. Arissy at the Kemp, Baby Bao at the Pond, Easy Tiger at the Hampton, and Alberta’s at the Windmill for good cooking in a pub setting.
The Windmill has one but don't go - the "regular" team/winners there are utter cunts. They assaulted a member of my team one week and the owners didn't chuck them out. We've not been back since.
