The Coast is Queer 2026

The LGBTQ+ literature festival is back at the Attenborough Centre from 15 to 18 October, with authors, poets, performers and writing workshops.

The Coast is Queer, an LGBTQ+ literature festival run by New Writing South with Marlborough Productions, takes over the Attenborough Centre from Thursday night to Sunday. The programme includes Martin Sherman in conversation with Nathan Evans, Poetry Paradise with Dean Atta, Nikita Gill and myndstate, and Juno Dawson’s Lovely Trans Sofa.

A pass gets you into everything in the main auditorium. It also gives free places at events in the two smaller studios, which you need to reserve, and entry to two exhibitions nearby: the AIDS Quilt in the Meeting House and a queer archive exhibition in the university library. Workshops are booked separately. Concession prices are flexible, for anyone who would otherwise be priced out.
