An Alice in Wonderland puzzle trail now runs through Brighton's streets

Solve the City's outdoor escape game, Clue the Looking Glass, sends teams of up to six round the city centre with an app and a case of props.

An outdoor escape game based on Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland is now running in Brighton. Clue the Looking Glass, from Solve the City, starts at a secret location in the city centre, where each team is handed a case of props and mystery objects. The game was first reported by the Argus.

From there an app guides players round a route of hands-on puzzles, and teams meet agents on the ground along the way. The plot: Alice is missing, and someone knows where she is.

Teams start and finish at the same secret spot. The average game lasts 2 hours 45 minutes, with a cap of 3 hours 30 minutes. Teams are up to six players, and dogs are welcome. There are a couple of steps into some of the locations.

Miles, Solve the City’s founder, told the Argus: “Here, the city is the puzzle and its streets are the game board.”

The company started with a game in Stratford-upon-Avon and now runs in eight UK cities. It says more than 15,000 people have played.

Games run seven days a week, with start times through the day from 10.15am, and are booked at solvethecity.co.uk. You can change the date and time of a booking, and full refunds can be issued if your circumstances change before you play.
