100% would send a mate. Still recommended in 2026.

Regulars on Upper St James's Street call it some of the best, most authentic curry in Brighton, singling out the fish dish and friendly, welcoming service for solo diners. A couple of commenters note the branding looks a bit average and that it's an unrelated business from the old Curry Leaf that previously occupied the site.

…fees, New School Kebab on Lewes Rd is a solid shout and super student friendly. They’ve got a 2‑for‑1 on mains that I found through NeoTaste, so if you’re grabbing food with a mate it works out cheap. For delivery days, burgers from Baker Street Burgers or a curry from Brighton Curry travel well. Also peek at Deliveroo’s pickup option and the student Plus trial on quieter days to keep fees down.

Current favourite is Brighton Curry on Upper St James' Street (super friendly and delicious Nepalese-type dishes). Also Dishoom Permit room in town is great and pretty fun.

Brighton Curry, delish food, imo the best curry in Brighton. Friendly atmosphere, solo or not, you will be treated like you eat there a few times a month.
