A long-time favourite Lanes tapas spot, family-run by actual Spaniards for around 30 years, with the flaming brandy sausage getting a specific shout-out and diners saying quality has never dipped. It's got a rival now in Tinto Taperia, and a growing number of comments say the food is overrated or just average compared to it.

My favourite restaurant in Brighton is a Spanish tapas in the lanes called Casa Don Carlos, I highly recommend. My second favourite would be a little spot called Unithai near Hove town hall. It's nothing fancy, actually a kitchen and a few tables at the back of a Asian food shop however the food is fantastic, it really is a little hidden gem.

Mate, I asked you what you liked to eat so I could offer you a decent recommendation and you said "food". How about be a bit less passive-aggessive, what sort of response where you looking for? Casa don Carlos do great Tapas You're already had a recommendation for O'shio for Sushi and I'd second that as it's probably the best sit down Sushi restaurant. Fogo de Chão is the Brazilian steakhouse I mentioned where they keep serving you meat until you ask them to stop. Friendly staff and nice array of drinks.…

…to Tinto Taperia recently and thought the food quality there was extremely good. It wasn't cheap, but I thought it was good value for UK restaurant food. We had tapas, desserts and sangria and it was about £30 a head (there were 3 of us and we had 6 tapas dishes). I went to Casa Don Carlos a few years ago and didn't really rate the tapas I had but it might have been a bad visit.
