Locals rate this Harvey's pub in Hanover as one of Brighton's best for a Sunday roast, with the biggest roast in the city, massive portions and a well-loved cheese plate. It's remembered fondly as a warm, fun boozer with real nostalgic pull, but several recent comments warn it's changed hands, lost its chef, and gone downhill compared to its heyday.

The standard of pub food in Brighton is generally excellent so it really depends what you're after, however some of my personal recommendations would be: The Constant Service - possibly the best, and certainly the biggest Sunday roast in Brighton Daddy Long Legs - fantastic small plates Bison Bar, North Laine - more small plates. Also excellent The Geese - delightful sausage and mash menu with a great selection of sausages, flavoured mashes and accompanying gravies…
These days, I actually live next door to the Barley Mow, but it’s not my sentimental pub. For that, it’s the Constant Service in Hanover that holds the memories. It’s changed hands a fair bit recently, but around ten years ago, it was the place to be. Proper fun. Everyone was in on it—the punters, the bar staff, the whole vibe. I’m sure it’s still decent now, but back then? It was something special..
…Hill which is owned by the Brighton Bier brewery, and you can try some of their brews on tap (they're only available in cans from the brewery). At this point you're really spoiled for choice however my tip would be to head a little further north and take in the super friendly Constant Service. This is the first Harvey's pub you'll encounter so you can sample a number of beers from Sussex's biggest brewery in nearby Lewes. It's just a lovely lovely pub. You could head to the Free Haus after this, which is another Brighton Bier pub so you might think you've done enough of their beers but…
I always used to go to the Constant Service in Hanover for a Sunday sports and giant roast fix however the chef left and it has since changed hands so I'm no longer able to vouch for it I'm afraid. Generally speaking we're really spoiled when it comes to pubs with good food but good pubs showing sports are far harder to come by.
