A Hanover pub known for its burgers ('the burgers there slap'), a roaring fire, board games and a pool table, plus a Moyo food van and quiz nights. It's good for kids and group bookings - its refurbished upstairs fits around 40 - though a recurring gripe is that the board games are tatty with missing pieces.

What locals say
There is quite a big selection of board games at The Islingword Inn in Hanover - if you book a table ask for round the front side (as it’s where the board games and roaring fire are)

Yep, would second this. There aren't many places with pool tables left now, but the Islingword (not Islingwood) pub is a nice friendly place.
…part of queens park (the part with the clock tower, and without the dogs) is always used for exactly this... handier for East Brighton, and there's pay and display parking around the edge. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kXMiwwFdmWAfQ8KF7 The Islingword Pub is good for kids if it all goes pear shaped.
