Consistently recommended Ship Street pizza spot, popular for takeaway, big group orders, and kids' birthdays (there's a downstairs football pitch to run around in). Gluten-free bases get particular praise for being properly chewy without an upcharge, though a couple of people note it's "not that cheap."

What locals say
It IS great, but there's lots of great pizza in Brighton. Pizza Pilgrims, Pizzaface, Pizza 500, Pizza Me, VIP, Fatto a Mano and Franco Manca are all real good, and I'm definitely missing a bunch. Still, sad to see the restaurant close down. I guess there's a lot of competition for good pizza, and a lot of competition on that street for places to eat.

* Marrocco's on Hove seafront is really nice, and a family business too. * Amici on Blatchington Road is also really good. * Pizza Pilgrims in the Lanes is great.
I'm with you on Fatto - their sauce is too sweet for my tastes, I've also tried VIP pizza and didn't rate it. Pizza Pilgrims and Pizzaface are both solid. I appreciate they're very much a chain now but I was always a big fan of Franco Manca in London back in the day before they franchised out _hard_ and to be honest I still think they're very decent.
