The Coal Shed on North Street (part of the Salt Room/Burnt Orange restaurant group) is a go-to for steak dinners, birthdays and date nights, with people praising the lamb chops, mac cheese side, cheesecake and a surprisingly good-value lunch menu. It's just as often called overpriced or 'style over substance', with several Redditors steering people to cheaper alternatives like Baqueano or Kindling instead.

We're really spoilt for choice in Brighton when it comes to up-market restaurants. Take a look at the menus of The Flint House, Burnt Orange, Tutto, CinCin or Coal Shed. If you want to be out further towards Hove, Wild Flor is excellent too. Have an amazing date night!
…The Open House pub by London Road station is amazing, their menu is almost all GF and they have a separate fryer and kitchen. Curry Leaf Cafe is also great, Moshka on London road is amazing for brunches and light lunches, if you’re feeling fancy then Riddle & Finns and The Coal Shed are really great with allergens. Pizzaface is really good for Italian, their GF pizza bases are amazing! We’ve found that most places tend to accommodate, it’s only a few that say nothing’s GF. But these places are the ones where we feel the safest in terms of cross contamination! Feel free to drop me a…

Burnt Orange - borderline awful food, every sauce is some sort of mayo/aioli, no acid to balance the dishes, poorly cooked food/textures all over the place. Really any restaurant from this group is completely crap - Coal Shed, Salt Room, not been to tutto but looks crap/people say it's awful. The interiors and layouts are usually very nice, cocktails good, maybe people even like the "what people think good service is" service which feels like your waiters last job was in recruiting, but the food is definitely not good. Burger…
