One of Brighton's most recommended date-night restaurants, praised for tapas and sangria that hold up against actual Spain (around £30 a head for six dishes between three), plus a buzzer-entry cocktail bar upstairs. A few reviewers find it reliable but a bit formulaic and pricey for what it is, especially next to more 'authentic' feeling Casa Don Carlos.

I went to Tinto Taperia recently and thought the food quality there was extremely good. It wasn't cheap, but I thought it was good value for UK restaurant food. We had tapas, desserts and sangria and it was about £30 a head (there were 3 of us and we had 6 tapas dishes). I went to Casa Don Carlos a few years ago and didn't…

Burnt orange, riddle and fins or the flint house then go for drinks in the hidden cocktail bar above tinto taperia (ring the buzzer on the door next door to be let in!) the basket makers if you want a pub pub or twisted lemon can be good fun too. Enjoy!

Market: Chic, hip, polished, and contemporary. Date night vibes. It’s an upmarket take on the tapas, original menu, bar setting. Tinto Taperia, reliable, if a bit "by the book." A classic tapas place, can feel expensive for what it is. Casa Don Carlos, screams authenticity, cozy back-street vibes, it feels like a family-run tavern, great value. Feels like hidden gem but everyone know about it.
